Playing safely with crypto: limits, test deposits and warning signs

Crypto moves money fast and with no way back. These rules reduce the risks: to your balance, to your account and to your budget.

A crypto casino Belgium players use works like any casino, with two differences: money moves faster, and a sent transaction cannot be reversed by a bank. These are the rules we follow when we play with our own money.

Before you play: the budget

  1. Decide on a monthly amount you can lose without consequences. Not “whatever is left”, but a figure fixed in advance.
  2. Keep it separate. Hold gaming crypto in an account or wallet apart from your savings.
  3. Record every deposit. A simple list with date, casino and amount shows the reality at the end of the month.
  4. Do not top up the same day after reaching your budget.

In the casino account: the limits

Most casinos let you set, in the account settings:

  • a deposit limit per day, week or month;
  • a loss or wager limit;
  • a session reminder after a set time;
  • a break of a few days to a few weeks;
  • self-exclusion, for a long period or permanently.

Set the deposit limit before the first deposit. Lowering a limit usually applies at once; raising it often comes with a delay. That is by design, and it helps.

Protecting the money: the crypto rules

  • Test deposit at every new casino or new network. A small amount, then the rest.
  • The same network on both sides. Details in USDT casinos.
  • Address copied, never typed. And compare the start and end.
  • Withdraw regularly. Leaving a large balance in a casino has no benefit.
  • A casino that accepts Belgium. An account opened against the restricted countries list can be closed with the balance.
Nine spheres joined by tubes, like the Atomium.

Protecting the account

  • Two-factor authentication on the platform and at the casino, with an app rather than SMS.
  • A unique password for every site.
  • Recovery phrase offline, never in a photo, never in a message.
  • Distrust any “support” that contacts you first on Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord or email. Real support never asks for a recovery phrase, a 2FA code or crypto “for verification”.
  • Links typed or bookmarked, not clicked from an ad or private message: fake casino sites copy real ones pixel for pixel.

The warning signs

Stop and take a break if you recognise yourself in any of these:

  • you play to win back a loss;
  • you deposit more than planned, several times in a row;
  • you hide the amount from people close to you;
  • you sell crypto savings to keep playing;
  • gambling costs you sleep or focus at work;
  • you think about gambling when you are not playing.

One sign is enough to activate a break in the account. Several mean it is time to ask for help.

Where to find help

Gambling Therapy offers free, confidential support by chat and forum. Talking to someone close to you or your GP is also a concrete first step. And the casino’s self-exclusion can be switched on right away, without waiting.

When a bonus makes you play more

A bonus with a high wagering requirement pushes you to bet far more than planned. If you notice you are playing “to finish the bonus”, decline it next time. The maths is in crypto casino bonus. For other practical questions, see the frequently asked questions.

Frequently asked questions

What deposit limit should I set?
An amount you could lose entirely without it changing your month: rent, bills and savings stay untouched. Set it in the casino account before the first deposit.
Can casino support ask for my recovery phrase?
Never. No genuine support team needs your recovery phrase or 2FA codes. Anyone who asks is trying to empty your wallet.
What is self-exclusion?
An account option that blocks access for a chosen period or permanently. You request it in the settings or through support.
Where can I find help?
