Crypto casino bonuses: wagering requirements and the small print
A 150% bonus can be worth a lot or almost nothing. It all depends on three numbers and four rules that hardly anyone reads before ticking the box.
Bonuses are the shop window of every crypto casino Belgium players see: 150%, 1.5 BTC, 100 free spins. None of those numbers tells you what the bonus is worth. That is why bonus size earns no points in our ranking. Here is how to read one.
The three numbers
1. The percentage. 150% means that for a €100 deposit, the casino adds €150 of bonus.
2. The maximum. “Up to 1.5 BTC” is the ceiling of the bonus, not what you will get. Above it, the percentage no longer applies.
3. The wagering requirement. The number that decides everything. It tells you how many times you must bet the bonus, or bonus plus deposit, before you can withdraw.
A worked example
You deposit €100 and accept a 150% bonus. Balance: €250. Assume a wagering requirement of 40 times the bonus:
- Bets to place: €150 × 40 = €6,000.
- On a slot with 96% RTP, the average expected loss on €6,000 of bets is about €240.
- Average outcome: on average almost nothing of the bonus is left once wagering is complete.
It is only an average: some players finish ahead, many with less. But the sum shows why a high-wagering bonus is mostly extra playing time.
If the requirement applies to bonus + deposit, the total nearly doubles: €250 × 40 = €10,000 in bets.
The four hidden rules
- The maximum bet. While the bonus is active, one bet above the limit, often a few euros, can void the winnings. Once is enough.
- Game contribution. Slots usually count 100%. Blackjack, roulette and live casino count little or nothing.
- The time limit. Wagering must be completed within a set number of days. After that, the bonus and linked winnings disappear.
- The blocked withdrawal. With an active bonus, requesting a withdrawal can cancel the bonus or even the winnings.
